How to Vote Biblically

Voting is a stewardship responsibility. Here is a biblical framework for making decisions at the ballot box.

1. Pray for Wisdom

Ask the Lord for discernment and wisdom as you evaluate candidates and ballot measures. He promises to give wisdom generously to those who ask.

James 1:5

2. Study the Candidates

Research candidates’ records, positions, and character. Look beyond campaign promises to their actual voting history and public statements.

Matthew 7:16: “By their fruits you will know them.”

3. Align with Scripture

Evaluate issues through the lens of God’s Word. Where does each candidate or measure stand on life, marriage, family, and religious liberty?

Psalm 119:105: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

4. Vote Your Convictions

Don’t stay home. Cast your vote as an act of stewardship and faithfulness. You are accountable for the influence God has entrusted to you.

Romans 14:12: “Each of us shall give account of himself to God.”

5. Pray for Leaders

After the election, continue to pray for those in authority, regardless of the outcome. God calls us to intercede for all who are in positions of leadership.

1 Timothy 2:1-2
